Mashers Media might be teaming up with North American Theatrical Photographers / Thornton Enterprises! They do tons of photography work and I was just informed that they have been looking for a company like mine for referrals when their customers want video work done. This gives them the leverage to use me as a resource for them and Mashers Media gets a little more securely rooted in the "Keep Sake" video business. Well, its almost time for he 3RD race on the Tailwind-Racing Cyclo-Cross, point series. This race venue will be held at Linden Park. Just go to the Tailwind web site and look up the details or look over to the top/right hand side of this BLOG and the map with add. should be there!

MUNSON PARK "NIGHT" Race

Here we go! Our first CX race ever filmed at NIGHT. Tailwind-racing has an awesome schedule of races and locations on their schedule for 2011. Filming Cyclo-Cross, (CX) racing has its own pitfalls due to all of the races being held in the fall and early winter. That means cold air, rain & even snow. This race starts at dusk & goes well into the evening. Filming in the dark should be a great challenge, check back next week and look for the event videos!

Well, The MI Double Cross has come and gone and I had a blast! It felt great to get back out and be filming races again. The weather was gentle, as far as cyclocross weather goes. Familiar faces, lots of speed, and the smells of fall beginning with the cameras rolling! I made two videos, ELITE MEN and Everyone else.
Thanks has to go out to Ginger Wissman for helping me film and Dave Massey for all of the great announcing.

CYCLO-CROSS 2011!

Get your umbrellas ready, dig out the fall and winter coats, and fill the coolers with beer and ice! Cyclo-Cross is only a couple weeks away.
Mashers Media has been laying low for most of the year but now the media machine is firing up to end the year strong filming cyclo-cross through Tailwind racing.
I will be posting the add of each event Im filming at.
My goal is to film at least 80% of the season, including the first and last races of the year and most of the middle of the season.

Please email us at mike@mashersmedia with any suggestions! We are also looking for new music for the fall, so please refer any MI based bands you might know to us so we can try and get their music heard...

I have decided to put the web site on ice for a while and go back to old faithful, (the BLOG).

I have been networking all winter and have a chance to film motocross, more mountain biking, cyclo-cross, and some free style street bike stunt riding! I have both of our Domain names pointing at the BLOG and will be taking more time and focus on the details of the content thats with in the BLOG...

NOT FILMING THE ICEMAN COMETH, 2010!

Regretfully, I am here to inform everyone that Mashers Media will not be filming the Iceman this year. We didn't get much of an option, we were simply informed that the Iceman promoters wish to try something else and that our services were no longer required... I hope the event goes well for all involved. I also hope that the racers inform the Iceman event staff that Mashers Media had become part of the tradition that is known as the Iceman.

Here are the "event" videos from that past three years that we filmed. Hopefully we will be asked to come back and film in 2011.

2010 ICEMAN COMETH is coming up!

I know we are well into 2010 and there has not been much on the Mashers Media home front... We are entering the fall and back to school. We are also looking at the Iceman Cometh on Nov. 6TH!

Last years DVD was great to view with all of the different interviews, but some have said that it was lacking the speed and intensity that the 2008 DVD had. I AGREE! Hey, you have to try new things to better learn what works and what doesn't...

This years DVD will be

going back to having a lot of intensity with awesome race footage,
up to 2 different helmet cams on 2 different pro level racers,
over a thousand different photos from the weekend,
a few interviews from the winners of the race and random people at the campground on Friday before the race,
the 5min ticker to let you know how much longer you have to spin!

Last years staff was the first time we all worked together on this or any event of Mashers Media, and as a whole they were very dedicated and very concerned about doing the best job they could for both Mashers Media and for the Iceman... We have asked most of last years staff back again this year so I know the quality of the race footage and photos from the weekend will be nothing short of excellent.

A few things that are going to be done differently this year are,

NO more DVD played from the previous years race. Sorry guys!
I am signing up for Smug Mug, in hopes of being able to offer this years DVD as a downloadable video to rent/buy.
No more raffle for those who preorder the DVD. I hope to have something else to offer you instead.
We will have our Net Book there to take plastic orders VIA PayPal. That seemed to work good last year!
I plan on getting there the Wed. before to stuff the racer packets with a flyer -or- coupon as a reminder to purchase your DVD of the Iceman.

We will be using Twitter again as a way to keep everyone informed of what we discover about any of the content we download in the computer as well as any progress with the DVD as it is created.

NEW MUSIC IS ALWAYS A MUST. Look for more of the awesome MI based bands to offer their best to the soundtrack and take the time to look them up and let them know how much you enjoy their music!

Remember, the DVD only exists if it is being supported... Please continue to be there for us and the DVD!!!

I know summer is half over and not much has been going on with us, but we are getting things lined up to hopefully do a commercial for a friends sports group on the web, a music video, some motocross, and the Iceman.
We are looking at getting 2 new helmet cams and some shirts by time the Iceman is in view. Please don't forget us and check in once in a while to see whats new, we promise to get back in full swing real soon!

I met up with Alex & Sandra Morton this evening and discovered that we knew each other already, but didnt know we did... What I mean is, Alex and I met way back 6yrs ago, and a good friend of mine is cousins with Alex's wife Sandra. WOW! What a small world. It looks like Mashers Media is spending quite a bit of time out at the motocross tracks around MI this summer. Now we need to start organizing dates. This is going to be great!

I have been going back and forth with a couple motocross racers in my town and have been trying to get a date set for all of us to come together and talk about the things to do for this summer. I am very excited and get the feeling we will all become great friends after the dust settles. I think they have a lot of talent and are waiting to see if I can deliver... We ran a couple different, but supported polls over the last month.
1ST was, what two classes did everyone want to see helmet came footage of in the Iceman DVD?
answer / 61% - PROS & 30% - Single Speed
These were the two highest percentages out of the choices available!

2ND was, should Mashers Media offer a "Mashers Challenge to the 1st racer from each class that contacts us and is willing to have our helmet cams secured to their bikes for the race. The way this will work is that the racers will allow us to attach helmets cams to their bikes and we will offer $150.00 to each racer from each of the two classes,
BUT THEY WILL ONLY GET PAID IF THEY FINISH TOP "10"
The results of this poll were as follows; 70% said YES & 30% said NO

We plan on buying a second helmet cam for just this reason... We also have to clear this with Steve Brown and the Iceman Cometh promotions.

I hate this time of the year... All of my calls have been made, I have 8- solid commitments for camera operators, 1- solid commitment for a helmet cam racer, emails out to bands, lots of equipment ordered and am working feverishly on the computer designing flyer's & DVD art work. Now is when I have to sit back and let fate shape the final crew, art work, equipment delivered, and what new bands I have to make the video work...

It's back up!

YESSSSS, it's back up and Jeff is working hard to restore everything while the issues continue to get addressed.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but PayPal is connected and my contact info has been reinstated.

Here's how things are looking right now;

I have purchased a new camera, (and can't wait to use it).
I do have commitments from everyone who will be Mashers Media STAFF for the 2009 Iceman!
I know Daniel Musto is excited to wear out helmet cam for the big dance.
I'm still highly optimistic that Wayne Cook will wear the helmet cam for the pro-SS class as well.
The bands are starting to come in and that will continue to be organized through the next two months.
I'm getting ready to place my order with TP LOGOS for some swag at the event!

So hang tight and get your preorders in!!! This promises to be a great DVD with a few new tricks not seen in any previous Iceman videos.

More website troubles!

Crap, crap crap! More website troubles...

I have a newly constructed website an am very proud of how it's coming along, especially on the eve of the Iceman race. So I had a few minutes to serf the web and went to my site to see if the video player issue was fixed yet, only to discover the whole damn thing is down! I called Jeff(my tech guy) and he told me he has been working feverishly trying to get to the bottom of all of this. It basically comes down to a bunch of technical crap. Jeff thinks the site will be back up in the next day or two. Mean while I also discovered that when we transferred the websites hosting company I lost my email add. that I have been sending everyone to for business contacts, crap! Jeff got another phone call and has now reestablished the email add. and made it even better then I had it before. So mike@mashersmedia does work now! If you are ever in need of a good web guy try Jeff at Cyberspace Solutions Inc. he works real hard for ya. This whole thing has been almost to stressful on the stress that's already created dealing with the Iceman, but hopefully it will pay off.

Here is what I now know for sure;

I have confirmation on all "6" camera operators!
Dave M from Specialized has been talking with me and Wayne Cook has agreed to wear the helmet cam in the SS class. Wayne helped me out last year at a cyclo-cross and is a welcomed addition to the help needed for the Iceman!
I am going to hook the helmet cam on a racer in the Sno-Cone.
The team I was hoping to wear the helmet cam in the pro race has had a change of heart. So now I will try and get a pro to wear the helmet cam day off while I am getting some interview time in. (keep your fingers crossed)

Well, where do I begin? I have been working Over Time like crazy to help pay for the camera upgrades and web site changes... I am on the eve of the 20th Iceman Cometh and have quite a crew forming! Im up to a possible crew of TEN with

An interviewer plus his camera guy.
TWO helmet cams, (hopefully). On Two different Bells guys!!! (keep your fingers crossed because that will be the best video footage any Iceman race has ever seen!
SIX different cameras filming the race from all over the trail.
I took a week off of my regular job, post Iceman, to assure myself a head start at getting the DVD done well before Christmas!
Andrea is taking photos for me again this year and has told me she will be more prepared so that we will have even more photos to view.
I am also planning on running a helmet cam on one of the little guys who is competing in the SNO - CONE.

I am also trying to change my web site up with a new features!

I know it's been a while, but I will finally get a new video out real soon!

I'm working on a 3min long video sequence of a crew on DEMS getting dispatched a run, then responding to the run and finally arriving at the run.

All of this w/out showing face, a patient, or any names on the ambulance.( For legal reasons)

Give me a few more days and Ill be ready to launch it.

Well we have'nt given up and things are looking like they might finally be coming together.

We are filming a few different snowmobile drag racing teams this Sept. @ Martin Speedway and filming for our buddies at Magnum Jetsports, "THUNDER" whoo will also be amking an appearance that same weekend! WOW!!!! This could shape up to be quite the filming weekend. I'll keep you informed!

The Iceman is continueing to grow into the next biggest thing that we have done for any sporting event!

I spent almost a grand on some new parts because my mother board and power supply melted... Chris has all of the new parts running and said you cant even tell its working, its so fast and quite. He came by today and took the rest of the old computer w/ him to switch the video card, DVD player and hard drive. Mashers Media should be back up and running by sat night!!!

The TSB video is at 45mins and will be easy to finish up before I go back to Det. on sunday night!!!

I am officially starting the production of the "TSB"- Team Sandbag 2008 year end DVD.
For the last couple of weeks I have been loading an hrs worth or so a day and playing around w/ some different art ideas for the DVD. This is the year end "keep sake" video from all of the different locations any of the TSB members were at racing and spectating for other team mates. Its really something to watch as the DVD is coming together and to be able to see all of the different photos and video footage come together from all of the different people on the team who have taken the time. The DVD will usually have about 2,000 photos or so and about 10hrs of video footage to sift through. I use to go and give all of the photos a edit, but the quality of cameras being used now combined w/ some of the hidden talent the folks on the team have, I'm going to simply drag and drop this time. I also get to have a little more fun w/ the sound track on this project because it's not for sale and the DVDs stay amongst us friends, but this year nothing really has jumped out at me and that troubles me because the music will usually dictate the viewing experience. I know the guys and gals really enjoy it so I don't think I can go wrong w/ what ever I end up using! Off I go...

I just wanted to take a second and say thanks to Ken and the guys from over at Breakaway Bikes, in Muskeegon. They have an awesome shop and lots of variety when it comes to gear and bikes. I just completed an upgrade to my POV(helmet cam) it can now take up to an 8G memory card and film up to something like 41/2hrs straight! The upgrade also increased its quality and films a lot better as well.

Look for it at the next race your in, you never know when it will get you on film...

REVVER

I use REVVER to host my videos for my main viewing. REVVER has a superior quality and is easy to use. However, they will run some maintanance once in a while and this can take several days causing the videos to not appear every where they are posted. Please be patient and wait for them to pop back up, I promise you they are still there.

Masher's Media is taking on a couple of bigger races and will be trying to make a better balance of interviews, photos, and race footage together in one DVD.

1st up is the BIOWHEELS cross race on 10/12, in Ohio! I WANT TO PREORDER A DVD!

2nd up is the USGP race in Kentucky!

Well as of now, (10/16/08) I have filmed the BIOWHEELS race & am waiting on word on if we are still filming the USGP race in Kentucky.
I'll have the teaser video up by this weekend, so dont miss it!

We had an estimated 145 racers on the day, (thats not bad considering the rainy start).
We went through over 100 hot dogs and over 100 hamburgers.
We went through an entire keg of beer.

The trails didnt take to bad of a beating, and should bounce back pretty good.

NERVZ END, the band that got up and drove down from Alma @ 430 in the moring and played for us all day for free!

Masher's Media wants to take a second and say, "thanks" to Matt McCluskey for all of his help taking photos at the different events we have covered. The first couple of years of being in business is really stressfull, and it was nice knowing Matt was there taking his photos for me. Im sure most of you know this already, but in case you dont, Matt has moved to the East coast with his family. Best wishes Matt!
